Pastor who assaulted woman given Sh100K bond

A man of God in Mukuru kwa Njenga slums in Nairobi shocked the court when he was accused of grievously injuring a sick woman by inserting his hand in her private parts, claiming deliverance.

Pastor Daniel Muriithi Njiru of the Only Believe Church of God Power of the Holy Spirit is accused of seriously injuring the 62-year-old woman unlawfully on August 1st during prayers at his house.

The woman (name withheld) according to the particulars has been sick for over three years with every medical move bearing no fruits. The woman’s daughter had been advised by a friend that the accused person prays and delivers people from evil.

She then brought the mother to Nairobi to come and stay with her as she attended prayers. Pastor Njiru advised her to leave the victim in his house for a week claiming she would be healed.

The woman is claimed to have had challenges while passing stool. It was then when the ‘curious’ pastor shoved his hand in her to ‘unclog’ the woman’s anal way and private parts, and in the process, it is said that a piece of flesh came out. Njiru claimed to have successfully healed her.

As a result, the woman felt a lot of pain and cried for help. Neighbours were shocked and called the police, who arrested the pastor. The victim was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital. Pastor Njiru was charged with causing grievous harm to the victim before Principal Magistrate Irene Gichobi.

He was released on Sh100,000 bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.
